Matt Boucher, CEO of the Abu Dhabi Sport Council, emphasizes the need for long-term contracts and regular team owners. He believes that the strength of any sporting event lies in its ability to maintain consistency and avoid frequent changes.
"We want to create an environment where investors feel confident and secure. By offering long-term contracts, we aim to attract a different caliber of investor and ensure the league's sustainability," Boucher explains.
Global Interest and Recognition
The involvement of the Abu Dhabi government has already sparked interest from prominent IPL franchise owners and investors from South Asia. Boucher sees this as a positive sign, indicating that the world's best teams and franchise owners recognize the potential of the Abu Dhabi T10.
"It's a vote of confidence in our vision and the steps we're taking. We're excited to welcome these investors and work towards building a successful and reputable league," he adds.
Future Prospects
While there are no immediate plans to expand the tournament beyond eight teams or collaborate with neighboring cities, Boucher acknowledges the potential for future growth.
"Our focus right now is on enhancing governance and improving key areas. If we can achieve our goals and establish a strong foundation, then expansion and collaboration could be on the horizon. But for now, we're taking it one step at a time," he concludes.
